The Kremlin is calling on the leaders of Germany and France to put more pressure on the Ukrainian government to implement¹ a February peace plan for eastern Ukraine.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has issued the call during a visit to the Crimea.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko is due to meet both German Chancellor² Angela Merkel and French President Francois Hollande in Berlin early next week in a bid to end a new wave of violence in eastern Ukraine between government forces and rebels.

An initial truce³ was signed in Minsk in February.
