A Chinese navy ship has handed over three suspected pirates to Somali authorities.

一艘中国军舰向索马里当局移交了三名海盗嫌疑犯。

The three were detained by the crew of the People's Liberation Army Navy frigate¹ Yulin on April 9, while the crew was rescuing a Tuvalu-registered cargo² ship which had been hijacked³ by pirates, according to the Ministry⁴ of National Defense⁵.

The pirates were handed over to the authorities in the Puntland region of northeastern Somalia in a process which the ministry described as smooth.
