| Apr.28 - China's top leader Hu Jintao Saturday called for closer personnel, economic and cultural exchanges between the mainland and Taiwan to curb1 Taiwan secessionist activities and maintain peace across the Taiwan Strait.
Hu, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, made the remark in a meeting with participants attending the third cross-Taiwan Strait economic, trade and cultural forum2 at the Great Hall of the People.
About 500 participants from the mainland and Taiwan will attend the forum, to be held in Beijing from April 28 to 29.
