Oct. 28 - China's top legislature on Sunday approved the cabinet nomination1 of Meng Jianzhu, former Party chief of east China's Jiangxi Province, as the country's new minister of Public Security.
Meng, an ethnic2 Han and born in 1947 in Wuxian County of Jiangsu Province, joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in 1971. Meng replaces Zhou Yongkang who was elected Politburo Standing3 Committee member of the CPC Central Committee at the first plenary session of the 17th CPC Central Committee early this week.
