Chinanews, Beijing,December 21 – The PLA Navy made its first official visit to Japan last November, which shows that China has become keener to open its military information to gain mutual1 trust with other countries.
The “Warrior-2007” maneuver2 held in Shenyang, Liaoning Province by the Chinese People’s Liberation Army was another example, when 55 observers from 35 countries were invited to review the event. China has invited foreign observers to review 5 of its military maneuvers3 since 2003, and the “Warrior-2007” was one with the most observers invited. Meanwhile, the PLA has worked hard for exchange and cooperation with armies all around the world. The PLA Navy has sent 29 fleets to visit 30-odd countries since the 1980s, and the PLA has been very active in taking part in joint4 military maneuvers with neighboring countries. The “Peace-Mission 2007” SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organization) anti-terrorism maneuver was held last August, attracting the attention of the world to China’s view on global security. It also well explained that the development of China in general and its army in particular will pose no threat to any other countries. China has received more foreign visitors to its military installations this year, too. Some of them were even allowed to take a ride in its most advanced jet fighters, tanks and naval5 vessels6.
