Robert
was1 a clever young man and
got2 on well with his classmates. They all liked him and played with him
though3 he often
boasted4. He was strong and often
had5 sports. He
hoped6 to join the
army7 when he left the middle school. Bad
luck8! His leg was hurt in a
traffic9 accident10 and he couldn't walk. He had to go to his home village and help his father to
manage11 the farm. He read a lot of books on
farming12 and
did13 well in it. He got much money and bought a
few14 farms next to his and ten years
later15 he
became16 the richest farmer in his village.
Once Robert met
several17 friends in the
capital18. Some of them were
famous19 in their country. They knew nothing about their
lame20 friend. It
made21 him
unhappy22 and he asked them to visit his farm. They
agreed23 and went there with him. They
saw24 a beautiful house with a big garden when they got there. They
found25 he had a lot of sheep, pigs and cows. Robert and his family warmly
received26 the
guests27 from London. The next morning he
took28 them to his farm. It was so large that they couldn't see the other end and it
surprised29 them all.
"I think something is wrong with your cars!" one of the guests said with a smile.
