8月11日下午，一列从浦东国际机场始发的磁悬浮列车，在驶抵龙阳路车站时，其中一节车厢起火。好在消防人员及时赶赴现场，并无大的人员伤亡。经初步分析，车载蓄电池故障导致此次火警事故的可能性较大。

       请看新华相关报道：A faulty onboard storage battery has been identified as the possible cause of the fire that broke out on Shanghai's magnetic levitation¹ (maglev²) train on August 11.

        Investigations³ conducted by Chinese and German technical experts show that the mainframe and parts of the carriage damaged by the fire were，"basically in good condition," according to a spokesman with the Shanghai Maglev Transportation Development Company.

        翻译“车载蓄电池”，其难点在于“车载”，报道中的on-board（storage battery）恰到好处地表达了“车载”的含义。Board常用来指“搭乘交通工具”，如We went on board the ship.（我们登上了轮船）；He boarded the bus.（他上了公共汽车）。相应的，onboard则用来形容“在车上，随车携带的”。

        另外，再顺便提两个词组：（fall）overboard指“从船上落入水中”，如：A man overboard!（有人落水!）；若看到off-board，千万别以为和交通工具有关，off-board常用于股票市场，指“场外的”，如：an off-board transaction.（场外交易）。
