瑞典议会18日通过了一项窃听法案，允许权威机构监控所有跨国通讯，包括窃听电话和检查邮件等。该法案遭到了反对人士强烈抨击，认为法案侵犯了个人隐私和公民自由。法案通过当天，成百上千的抗议者聚集在国会外面示威。

    Sweden's Parliament by a narrow margin¹ on Wednesday approved a controversial law that allows authorities to eavesdrop² on all e-mail and telephone traffic that enters the country.

    瑞典议会本周三以微弱优势通过了一项颇具争议的法案，该法案允许官方截查和窃听所有跨国电子邮件及电话。

    上述报道中，eavesdrop就是listen without the speaker's knowledge，即“偷听，窃听”的意思，有一个短语listen in有时候也表示“偷听”的意思，例如：She loves listening in to other people's secret.（她喜欢偷听别人的秘密。）

    其实，表示“窃听”意思的词不只这两个，还有wiretap，intercept，以及tap都可以用来表达“截查”或者“窃听”的意思。

    例如：The telephone in my room is wiretapped/intercepted/tapped.（我房间的电话被窃听了。）
