The latte factor is unconscious day-to-day frivolous1 spending such as buying candy, bottled water, cigarettes, magazines, newspapers, and yes, lattes. Author and financial advisor2 David Bach coined the term to reference the inordinate3 amount of money people waste on a daily basis, that when saved can literally4 make you a millionaire.
The latte factor came out of observing a majority of Americans who live paycheck to paycheck, who are wasting their opportunity to become self made millionaires. Trimming a dollar here and there translates into big savings5 at the end of the year, that’s the latte factor.
