Japan's second-biggest retailer¹ said on Sunday it had sold beef from cattle that ate nuclear-contaminated feed, the latest in a series of health scares from radiation leaking from a quake-crippled nuclear power plant.

日本第二大零售商周日称其已售出部分吃了遭核辐射污染饲料的牛肉，这是地震导致的核电站泄漏事故引发的又一健康威胁。

上文报道中的nuclear-contaminated feed即“遭核辐射污染的饲料”，食用了这种饲料的牛被称为nuclear-contaminated cattle（“辐射牛”），“辐射牛”被宰杀拿到市面上出售的辐射牛肉即nuclear-tainted beef。contaminated和tainted意思都是“受污染的”。例如：melamine-contaminated milk powder就是“受三聚氰胺污染的奶粉”。

负责协调nuclear cleanup（核清理）的日本官员称日本将可能停止beef shipments²（牛肉运输）。“辐射牛肉”所含的辐射量已远远超过safety standards（安全标准）所规定的水平。
