Infobesity refers to a new disease caused by excessive consumption of information. 

 

“信息肥胖症”指的是信息消费过量导致的一种新病症。

 

Nowadays newspapers, magazines, television and the Internet are producing far more information than we can absorb, which seduces¹ us into ingesting too much, just like food.

 

在现今这个时代，报纸、杂志、电视、网络都在制造大量信息，这些信息引诱着我们不断去摄取，即使我们早已“吃饱了”。 

 

The information served up by commercial television is usually poor in fiber² and high in the information equivalent of fat and sugar. People are becoming “infobese” from overconsumption of such information.

 

商业电视提供的信息餐往往“纤维”含量少而“脂肪”和“糖分”含量高。过度摄取这种信息正使人们患上“信息肥胖症”。
