Tradition and Modern
Overall, I disagree with the opinion expressed. I would like to begin by pointing out that “traditional culture and technology “may be outdated1, but by no means “so useless as to be replaced completely”.
To begin with, traditional things help define the identity of the people who share that culture and they are also a link with past, and thus have historical value and deeper meaning than modern science and technology. Such as to preserve historical buildings like the magnificent Forbidden City in Beijing, from which we learn the most picturesque2 lesson about our history, moreover, we show our reverence3 to our forefathers4 .
Secondly5, sometimes traditional skills turned out more useful and effective than modern ones. No matter how efficient computers may be, people are more likely to receive a love letter with handsome handwriting on self-designed paper rather than a mechanical e-mail with perfect design by computer through a simple click. Costume design is an another good case in point, mass production in factory can’t cater6 to the need of some celebrities7, who always want to be eye-catching , special and different with the mass. Therefore , they favored the traditional skill of designing clothe by hands more.
Last but not least, traditional culture and technology are the main scenery attracting travelers from foreign countries, people travel, because they want experience different culture. And tourism contributes a lot to the economy of a country.
Culture is the glue which cements a people and a country together and enhances cooperation and harmony within that country, so anything which promotes a specific culture is important.
