Chinese pairs figure skating athletes have swirled¹ into history book by winning silver and bronze and a 4th position at the Turin Winter Games.

Young and upcoming stars Zhang Dan and Zhang Hao were the last to compete after a perfect show by the eventural champions Russian Tatiana Totmianina and Maxim² Marinin. However the 21-year-old pairs were forced to take a five-minute pause after Zhang Hao crashed heavily in the splits position after a failed throw quadruple salchow.

After five minutes spent skating around the rink with her partner, testing her knee and consulting her coach, the 21-year-old returned to the contest to thrilll the crowd and complete a courageous³, if not technically⁴ imperfect, routine.
