Wen Muye, director of "Dying to Survive," will be competing for the title of Director of the Year at the 10th China Film Director's Guild1 Awards.
《我不是药神》导演文牧野将角逐第10届中国电影导演协会年度奖。
The other
nominees2 are Jia Zhangke for "Ash Is Purest White," Zhang Yimou for "Shadow," Jiang Wen for "Hidden Men" and Lv Le for "Lost, Found."
Li Yu is from the judging panel for the award and said "this is probably the only award in China given to a film director by other directors. The criterion to evaluate if it's a good film largely
diversifies3, including the box office. However, the
artistic4 value of a film
remains5 to be the only
criteria6 for directors' guild in making their
judgment7. This time, some lesser-known and non-mainstream movies, including documentaries, have entered the
nomination8 list."
As one of the most important domestic film events, the awards also include best young director, best actor, and best actress.
The winners will be announced on April 26.
China's movie box office revenue rose 9% in 2018 to 61 billion yuan or 9-billion US dollars.
