西班牙一名艺术品收藏家花钱请人修复一幅17世纪名画的复制品，但修复后的画作令他震惊不已，画中圣母玛利亚的面庞已难以辨认。据说，这位私人收藏家向一名家具修复工支付了1200欧元(约合人民币9552元)来修复《埃斯克利亚的清静受胎》的复制品。

An art collector in Spain was shocked after the face of the Virgin¹ Mary in a copy of a 17th century painting he paid to have restored was left unrecognizable. 

 

The private collector is said to have paid a furniture restorer 1,200 euros to carry out work on the copy of "The Immaculate Conception of Los Venerables" by the baroque artist Bartolomé Esteban Murillo. 

 

The restorer's first effort was a disaster, leaving Mary's face disfigured, and the subsequent attempt to correct it just made it worse. 

 

The botched job has caused such outrage² that art conservation experts in Spain have called on the government to enforce stricter laws for restoration work to preserve the country's history.
