Chinanews, Shijiazhuang, Apr. 13 – According to Cultural Relics1 Bureau of Hebei, a comprehensive survey of the Great Wall of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) will be launched on Thursday. It will be accomplished2 in June 2008.
By 2006, experts in Hebei Province had finished monitoring process of the Great Wall in Shanhaiguan, Funing, Qinglong, Lulong and other places. They also revealed what they had done was only a part of the survey. Hebei has done a great deal to preserve the Great Wall of every historical period, including the Great Wall of the Ming Dynasty which extends for 2,000 km in Qinhuangdao, Tangshan, Chengde, Zhangjiakou and Baoding. Last year, the local government of Hebei honored the Shanhaiguan section of the Great Wall the title “hometown of the Great Wall.”
