Chinanews, Xi'an, May 21 –Xi'an Museum, was opened to the public on last Friday. It was built by the provincial1 government of Shaanxi with an investment of 200 million yuan.
Xi'an Museum is located in the central part of the city, which occupies an area of 254 mu. In the museum there are 130 thousand cultural relics2, 14 thousand of them believed to be important ones. According to statistics, most cultural relics there date back to Qin (221-206 B.C.), Western and Eastern Han (206 B.C.-220A.D.), Sui (581-618) and Tang (618-907) dynasties. The main building of Xi'an Museum is modeled on the architectural style of the Tang Dynasty. Currently Chinese mainland has 2,100 museums and commemorative halls, and 153 of them being in Shaanxi, ranking the province first in this field.
