Chinanews, Beijing, Aug. 18 – Liu Guiyou, a senior official from Qinghai provincial1 government, said on Thursday that China has some 20 million Muslims, and he also revealed that China has a history of 1,200 years in Islamic food production. He said that the first National (Qinghai) Islamic Food Fair, which will be held in November, can provide a good opportunity for foreigners to taste Chinese-made Islamic food.
Qinghai is located on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, which is favorable environment for producing Islamic food. Last year, Qinghai exported some 20 million U.S. dollars worth of Islamic food to Middle East countries. Many Islamic foodstuffs2 companies from Middle East and Southeast Asian countries will participate in the November fair, which Qinghai officials expect to be a great success.
