Chinanews, Shanghai, August 20 – Several dubbing1 actors and actresses of Shanghai Film Dubbing Studio took part in a special signing ceremony to celebrate the release of Charming Vocals2, a memoir3 of the history of the studio.
Thanks to the hard work of the studio, Chinese people have been able to appreciate the charm of foreign movies. Wu Lei, the youngest dubbing actor at the ceremony, lip-synchronized Harry4 Potter (starring Daniel Radcliffe) in 4 of the 5 released movies (episodes 2 - 5). When he first took up the task 4 years ago, he was only 22. At that time, he was quite nervous, for he wasn’t sure he could do the job well, as Harry at that time was only a boy of 12. After the release of the latest Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix5, many audiences thought the story was too dark and Harry was not “lovely” anymore. However, a grown-up Harry made Wu’s job much easier, for he didn’t have to imitate the voice of a small boy. “It seems like I grew up with Harry Potter,” said Wu. It can be estimated that Wu and the studio will present more fabulous6 movies in the future.
