| Chinanews, Shanghai, Feb. 15 – To have family reunion dinner on Lunar New Year’s Eve in other places is to become a fashion among Shanghai citizens this year. More private enterprises1 and ordinary families in Shanghai also plan to celebrate Lunar New Year’s Eve outside Shanghai this year, which they think may create a unique atmosphere.
Xu Feng, a white collar working in a large foreign-invested company in Shanghai, revealed2 that her boss intended to give the company’s Lunar New Year’s Eve dinner in Singapore. She said that her relatives could also have opportunities to enjoy this dinner.
Twenty-six-year-old Yao Qian who works3 for the same company has a different plan. She hopes to enjoy her family reunion dinner in the countryside with her grandmother. She believes such dinner will be more meaningful.
Shanghai’s restaurants also promote their characteristic snacks rather than the usual pork or fish as the main dish for the Spring Festival feasts4. Wu Liang and his wife will enjoy vinegar-pepper soup, because they will visit Chongqing, and such soup is one of the most renowned5 dishes there. Liu Yan, a student from Shanghai, also revealed her plan to our reporter. She said that she would enjoy the fish balls of Fuzhou, Fujian Province on Lunar New Year’s Eve.
