Chinanews, Guangzhou, March 9 – A recent survey by Institute of Women’s Studies in Guangzhou shows that women in Guangzhou have become more and more satisfied with their marriage quality and 84% of interviewees are "very satisfied" or “satisfied” with their marital1 life.
A previous survey of 20 cities shows that people from well-off families tend to have more confidence in their marriage quality than lower-income families. The main reasons for an unhappy marriage in order of priority are” children education”, "a boring relationship between husband and wife" and “unharmonious relationship between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law”. A similar conclusion is drawn2 by this survey on women in Guangdong. Among all women interviewed, 22.4%, 19.7%, and 18.8%, respectively, attribute the three biggest problems threatening a happy marriage: children’s education, provision for old parents, and heavy work pressure. Experts say that high-income families can better ensure a happy marriage. In addition, women with higher education level in Guangdong take a more and more open and tolerant attitude towards marital life, which will help a great deal towards solving marital problems and improving marriage quality.
