Chinanews, Changsha, October 9 – Tang Qiuying, a 20-year-old girl from Hunan Province, will live with 300 snakes in an apartment in Shiyan Lake Park in Changsha until October 29, without stepping outside.
Tang was born in a mountainous region, and she loves snakes. Currently, she is an apprentice1 of Zhu, a snake breeder from Guilin, where they bought the snakes. Most of them are wild non-poisonous snakes, others can produce a little venom2, but not fatal. However, during the National Day holiday, poisonous snakes like cobra were put in to attract the visitors. The apartment is provided with all basic necessities, including air-conditioner, heater, television, telephone and even a computer with broadband connection. Everyone interested in their activity can call them before 10 pm. Tang told our reporter that snakes would not attack people unless disturbed. “It is most dangerous at night, as you might step on them or press them in unguarded moments, then they might very probably attack you. It’s lucky that I am a quiet sleeper,” said Tang. On saying this, she was bitten in the hand by a gray snake, which was conceiving an egg, and Tang just grabbed where the egg was.
