Chinanews, Beijing, October 8 – A recent questionnaire1 survey conducted by the Renmin University of China finds that Beijingers' life has changed a lot in these 20 years. They have much more time for sleep and leisure2 than 20 years ago (especially Beijing women, but men also spend less time doing housework, either). The time they spend on their way to and from work is also much longer.
A Beijinger usually enjoys leisure activities for 4 hours and 42 minutes a day on average, 43 minutes longer than 20 years ago, and works3 2 hours and 20 minutes shorter a day. That is, Beijingers work two and a half months shorter every year. Though Beijingers sleep more, their total time for rest has become shorter, for they spend more time on reading (39 minutes longer) and exercising (4 minutes longer), and surfing the Internet, a new leisure activity.
