Chinanews, Shanghai, Apr. 24 – A latest survey on China’s wedding industry shows that Shanghai citizens spend more money on weddings than other cities of the country, which probably surpasses American’s wedding cost.
The survey shows that in Shanghai every pair of newlyweds spend 187 thousand yuan on average (not including house and automobile1 purchase), and while in Guangzhou, they just spend 137 thousand yuan. The survey also reveals that newlyweds spend 60 thousand yuan on house decoration and 20 thousand yuan on buying furniture, jewellery and household appliances. In 2002, newlyweds only spent 50 thousand yuan on average. Ms Li, a journal editor said that “Shanghai citizens usually rent suits and gowns wedding clothes 5 years ago, while now they buy them in the city, and even in Hong Kong. They also go on honeymoon2 journeys in Europe or Southeastern Asian countries.
