| Chinanews, Hangzhou, Oct. 27 – Currently more and more young people choose to communicate with each other through the Internet, and some of them later become lovers and get married. The 2006 Survey of Chinese Online Marriage Service released by Chinese Computer Research Institute on Tuesday shows that 15% of Chinese young people in the main metropolises1 believe that the Internet is the most convenient channel through which to know each other and than fall in love; while 19% of them still prefer to choose boyfriends or girlfriends through the introduction of their friends and relatives.
In this month-long survey, and most of its respondents are from Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. Its result shows that people in general regard the Internet as their important communication channel.
The survey shows that 51.2% of respondents think "work pressure" is a great barrier for white collars to find their beloved ones, 57.4% believe it is easier for people to communicate through the Internet, and 50.1% deem making friends through the Internet can saves time.
Some 36% of respondents with high income think it is the best choice to make friends online. However, there are still 52.2% of respondents who believe they can be easily cheated through the Internet, and 31.8% think their online friends are prone2 to provide fake personal information. More than 80% of them require matchmaking websites to provide strict personal information attestation3.
