Chinanews, Shanghai, Nov. 11 - An expert from the Shanghai Women Disease Treatment Committee said last Sunday that high work pressure had increased women's incidence of breast disease by 30%. Irregular daily schedule will disturb women's hormone1 release, making them more likely to suffer from breast cancer. Related information shows that single women, women with a late or short marriage are more likely to have breast disease.
Expert Yu Junde made the statement when attending the press conference of the 2006 Women Breast Health Investigation2 in the Yangtze River Delta3 Region over the weekend. The investigation shows that due to long working hours and high work pressure, women working in enterprises are more likely to suffer from breast disease than women working in government institutions, and that things are better with housewives than with women working in companies. Doctor Jin Zonghao, an expert on breast disease from the Tongji Hospital of the Shanghai Based Tongji University and a consultant4 to the World Health Organization on breast disease, says that in Shanghai, many women do not feed their baby with breast milk and therefore are liable to suffer from breast disease, like women in Western countries. The investigation shows that 32% of the women interviewed do not feed their baby with breast milk. Among this group of women, 33% do so because they do not have enough milk or because of some diseases. 66% of women, however, are unwilling5 to milk their baby either because they want to maintain a good figure or they do not want to be disturbed at night. The investigation also shows that women who sleep for 7 hours a day or more are 30.8% less likely to suffer from breast disease than women who sleep less than 6 hours a day. It also shows that single women, women who marry at a later age or have a short marriage have a higher incidence of breast disease.
