Chinanews, Hong Kong, Dec. 31 – Descendants of Chinese Americans now favor coming back to China to make investment and their frequent business travels has boosted the tourism industry between China and the United States. Statistics released by travel agencies that do such business show that more and more Chinese Americans living in South California travel to China. On holidays, they become the major tourist source between China and the United States.
Usually, holiday becomes the most ideal time for people to travel around. As Sino-US trade activities increase, descendants of the first generation of Chinese Americans in the United States take this opportunity to start their business in China. When a new year begins, they, or their relatives, become the major tourist source between China and the United States, Hong Kong-based Singtao Daily reported. The number of Chinese Americans traveling during the period of the New Year and the traditional Chinese Spring Festival (Lunar New Year) will increase by 10-20% than usual, said Han Xiaohan, head of the Market and Planning Department at the Asia Travel Agency in the US. Development in tourism market can usually reflect the economic relations between the two countries. As Han Xiaohan said, in the past most Americans went to China for sightseeing purpose but now, their proportion has reduced to only 50% of the total tourist number, and the rest are all people who travel between China and the United States for business purpose. These people go to China every month and it is easy to tell that their trip is for business purpose. During holidays, some people will go back to Los Angeles while their friends or relatives may go to China for family gathering1. Their travel greatly boosts the tourism industry at this time.
