Typhoon Noul crashed ashore¹ on the north-eastern tip of the Philippines.

台风红霞在菲律宾东北部海岸登陆。

The category five storm is packing winds of up to 185-kilometers per hour near the centre.

It has made landfall about 400-kilometers north of the capital, Manila.

People living along the coastal² areas have been evacuated⁴, as storm surges of up to two metres are hitting the area.

"We weren't supposed to leave our home, but they came and told us to evacuate³ because we are living on the coastline and the waves might destroy our homes."

The Super Typhoon is expected to trigger landslides⁵ and flash flooding in parts of the Cagayan Valley.

A number of flights out of the Philippines have been cancelled.

Forecasters are expecting the storm to make a turn to the east and track away from Taiwan over the next 24-hours.
