Chinanews, Beijing, March 12 – According to Li Zhuqi, a member of the 10th NPC Financial and Economic Committee, China will establish its first state
corruption1-prevention administration in 2007, after about 1 year's planning, which will be based on the experience of Hong Kong's Independent Commission Against Corruption. Regional corruption-prevention bodies will also be set up in the near future. The state corruption-prevention administration will be responsible for building a complete system against corruption as well as the
publicity2 and educational campaign against this social
tumor3. “It might be a ministerial-level body,” said Li.
It is believed that the establishment of the new administration will help to strike down corruption at its root, and it will inject some new
vigor4 into our political system. It also reflects China's determination in fulfilling the UN Convention Against Corruption.
