An American Airlines plane has overshot the runway on landing at an airport in the Jamaican capital Kingston, in heavy rain, reports say.

Flight AA 331 from Miami, with about 150 people on board, is reported to have broken apart after landing at Norman Manley International Airport.

Jamaican information Minister Daryl Vaz said at least 40 people were injured.

Roland Henry, a journalist from the Jamaica Observer, told the BBC the plane came to rest停止移动 near the beach.

He said survivors¹ had thought the plane was landing normally before there was a series of jolts颠簸 and luggage fell from overhead天花板，头上的 lockers³.

Passengers were visibly shaken by the incident and some had broken bones or cuts, he said.
