Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic met with his Albanian counterpart Edi Rama on Monday, a fresh move to deepen ties between the two countries, especially in the field of joint1 infrastructural2 projects that could attract financing from the EU.

This is the first visit by an Albanian leader to Serbia in 68 years.
The last-recorded visit of an Albanian prime minister took place in 1946 when Enver Hoxha visited Yugoslavia.
"We will do all in our power to work on the rapprochement of the two countries and to obtain support of the EU especially for our infrastructural projects, because this is important for our economic growth," Vucic said at a press conference.
He emphasized "conversations" in solving problems of the two countries.
"This visit marks a new beginning and I hope that the pragmatic relations between Serbia and Albania will be focused not only on progress of our own political and economic relations but also for advancement3 of relations between countries in the whole region," Vucic added.
Rama said that his country is ready to leave the past behind and head towards its European future together with other countries of the Western Balkans that he said "will be united on their joint road towards peace in Europe."
He stressed that the real enemy of both Serbia and Albania is "poverty, unemployment, lack of perspective for young people, public debt and deficit4 inherited in the past" and not each other.
The two leaders initiated5 future cooperation on control of passengers at Serbia-Albania border crossings and joint prevention and investigation6 of customs violations7.
