A new China-developed maglev¹ train has undergone a successful test run, reports PLA Daily on its social media account.

 

《解放军报》在其官方微博上宣布，中国研发的一种新式磁悬浮列车成功完成试车。
 

 

The new train can run at a speed of over 160km/h. 

 

China's National University of Defense² Technology led the design of the mid-speed train, which does not require high costs as high-speed trains do; it also has a less complicated structure and is more flexible in track design. 

 

The success of the test run marks China's self-sufficiency in developing the core technologies of mid-speed maglev trains. 

 

This new type of trains can provide an alternative to railway travel among city clusters and urban areas.
