China launched a Long March-4C rocket to place a new satellite in space Wednesday. The rocket blasted off at 7:44 a.m. (Beijing Time) at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China and soon sent the L-SAR 01A satellite into preset orbit.

北京时间1月26日7时44分，我国在酒泉卫星发射中心用长征四号丙运载火箭，成功将L-SAR 01组A星（陆地探测一号01组A星）发射升空。

 

The satellite will be used to monitor the geological environment, landslides¹ and earthquakes.

该卫星主要用于对地质环境、山体滑坡、地震灾害等进行有效监测。

 

The mission marked the 407th flight of the Long March carrier rockets, said the launch center.

此次任务是长征系列运载火箭的第407次飞行。

 

The L-SAR satellite project will help reduce China's dependence² on foreign data in fields such as geology, earthquake monitoring and emergency support, said the administration.

国家航天局称，该卫星工程将显著降低地质、地震、应急等行业对国外数据的依赖。

 

The L-SAR 01B is scheduled to be launched at the end of February.

L-SAR 01组B星计划2月底择机发射。
