Chinanews, Beijing, April 28 - Zhang Guobao, the director of the Leading Group for Implementation1 of the "Convention on the Prohibition2 of Chemical Weapons", published an article in the People Daily, saying that Japan should properly handle all its chemical weapons left in China in the Second World War as soon as possible, as they are a great danger to the life of the Chinese people and ecoenvironment of China as well.
The handling of chemical weapons left in China by Japanese troops has long been a top problem to the Chinese government. According to the “Convention on the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons” and the memorandum3 of handling chemical weapons left in China between China and Japan, the Chinese government has done a great deal in locating, unearthing4, identifying and even selecting destruction sites for such weapons. "We'll push the Japanese government to accelerate the process of destroying all the chemical weapons left in China. Of course, we'll do whatever we can to cooperate, " said Zhang.
