Chinanews, Oct. 18 - Some Chinese white dolphins recently appeared playing in groups at the Zhanjiang Port-Leizhou Bay area in Guangdong. Experts say that there are altogether 300 Chinese white-flag dolphins and their total number is only next to those appearing at the Pearl River estuary1.
The coastal2 area from the Leizhou Bay to Zhanjiang Port is regarded as the fifth habitat for Chinese white dolphins. The number of Chinese white dolphins here, about 300 according to experts, is only next to that in the Pearl River estuary, ranking second in the country. Chinese white dolphin is a marine3 animal designated for first-class protection in China. It has already been listed as an endangered species in China. Chinese white dolphin has an important scientific value in military and medical fields.
