Chinanews,Jinan, June 8 - Currently, there are 2,395 nature reserves in China, covering 1.51 million sq km, or more than15% of China's territory.
In these nature reserves, 75% of terrestrial ecosystems1, 88% of wild animals, 65% of higher plants, and most endangered species are put under careful protection. According to Wu Xiaoqing, deputy director of the State Environmental Protection Administration, there are 284 national nature reserves in China, including the 19 newly-established ones, forming a complete conservation system.
