Chinanews, Beijing, Jun. 28 – According to Beijing Daily, a survey made by Hainan Wild Life Protection Center reveals that there are totally 1,785 Eld’s Deer (also called brown-antlered deer or slope deer) in Hainan. It is proved that the inhabitable environment in Hainan is suitable for Eld’s Deer’s survival.
Eld’s Deer is one of the most precious animals in China. In the 1970s, the Eld’s Deer was already on the verge1 of extinction2, its number having dropped to 26. Artificial breeding technology has become successful to breed more Eld’s Deer. In 2003, the center started to send Eld’s Deer back to the nature in Baisha, Wenchang and Tunchang villages.
