Chinanews, Lhasa, July 16 – Recently, all important media in China reported a piece of exciting news: At 12:20, July 12, the China's Tibetan mountaineering team successfully climbed to the top of Gasherbrum I, the last mountain on earth conquered1 by human beings whose altitude is above 8,000 meters.
Previously2, only 13 people in the world had successfully set foot on the top of all the 14 highest mountains in the world. This is also the first time that the 14 highest mountains in the world have been conquered by a team. The team was first established in 1992. Three main mountain climbers, Cirenduoji, Bianbazhaxi and Luoze, formed the main members to complete the climbing task of Gasherbrum I this time. The only female3 mountaineer in the team, Jiji, was the wife of a former Chinese mountaineer, Renna, who once finished climbing 13 highest peaks in the world before he died in an expedition in 2005. After her husband's death, Jiji decided4 to carry through her husband's will taking part in the climbing of the last highest mountain. She now has become the first female mountaineer in China that has successfully climbed atop Gasherbrum I, also the first female mountaineer in the world that conquered a 8,000-m mountain at a foreign country. Apart from Chinese mountaineers, the team assistants from Chinese side and from Pakistan also reached the top of Gasherbrum I.
