Chinanews, Shanghai, December 6 – According to a report by Shanghai Mental Health Center, about 5.8% of school-age children are suffering from ADHD (Attention Deficit1 Hyperactivity Disorder2), that is to say there are about 20 million ADHD patients in China.
ADHD being a very common mental disorder among children (particularly boys), most parents do not pay enough attention to it. In fact, it might haunt the patients in their adolescent even adult life by preventing them from making achievements in their study and work, because it is hard for them to control their behavior and/or focus their attention. What makes things worse is that today's medical science can only guarantee a 15% of the precise diagnosis3 rate of the disease. It is estimated that about 40% of ADHD patients in China are misdiagnosed, which might become a heavy burden on the society.
