Chinanews, Beijing, September 13 – According to Cao Qingyao, the spokesperson of the National Forestry1 Administration, China has lent 30 giant pandas to 9 overseas zoos in 5 countries and regions for cooperative researches.
Cao also said that these pandas were not gifts, as China would only give them as gifts to Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. “Our research program is conducted only for the benefit of giant pandas in China, such as to keep their population,” said Cao. China signed a contract with Spain on September 8 to start a joint2 research on giant pandas soon. China will also send the second pair of giant pandas to Australia for research.
