Chinanews, Beijing, December 19 – Beijing Municipal Administration of Environmental Protection released an air pollution forecast in the next 5 years in Beijing, which shows that there will be 7 days of sandstorm every year in the next 5 years, most to happen in spring.
The report is based on the atmospheric1 data from 2001 to 2005, especially the days with severe air pollution. The researchers find that Beijing's spring (March to May) is usually haunted by sandstorms while its winter (January to April) is mostly haunted by static air pollution. However, no severe air pollution happened in June to September in the last five years. Most sandstorms in Beijing blow from other provinces, thus Beijing can not solve the problem by itself.
