Chinanews, Hangzhou, November 1 – The Fatal Disease Gene1 Database for Chinese Project was launched recently, with 20 medical institutions taking part in it, including the famous Beijing Tongren Hospital and the PLA General Hospital.
The project aims at finding out the genes2 that cause common fatal diseases of the Chinese people, thus protective measures can be taken beforehand. Supported by China Medical Doctor ‘s Association, the ADINOVO Gene Research Center of Zhejiang University will be the major operator of the project. “1,475 diseases can be diagnosed or forecast via gene analysis, and our focus will be those fatal ones, including rectal cancer, breast cancer, sudden cardiac death and periodic paralysis,” said Qi Ming, who is in charge of the project.
