Chinanews, Urumqi, Dec. 6 – A fishing port is under construction in the Tarim Basin1, one of the driest place in China. When completed, it will become China’s first inland fishing port in China’s northwest.
Built with an 6 million yuan to build the port will go into use into operation in June 2008. Some 150 fishing boats can work together in the port. Built near the Bosten Lake, the largest inland freshwater lake in China, the port will cover an area of 1,000 sq km2 and produce 6,000 tons of fish annually3 some of them to be exported to Japan and other countries.
