Chinanews, Hong Kong, January 15 – The Chinese mainland is planning to select two healthy young pandas to send to Hong Kong, for which Wolong Giant Panda Research Center has prepared 60 candidates.
“Currently there are 60 pandas under 5 years old in the research center, which are qualified1 to be candidates,” said Tang Chunxiang, a researcher from Wolong. “We are not only going to take health and age of the pandas into consideration, but also their bloodline and temperament2, to make sure that they can successfully reproduce in Hong Kong, ” added Tang. Pandas will have to adapt themselves in one or two months after arriving in Hong Kong, as long as the temperature in their room remains3 cool enough.
