Part of our topic today is about importance of that sensibility for kids Like what it means to become a lifelong learner And tell us a little bit about what skills are what you think is most important for kids today as they're looking forward So, I don't... this is not going to sound humble1 所以,接下来我要说的...会显得我不太谦虚 and I also think it's true of all of you in this room 并且我觉得在座的各位也是这样的人 I was a really good student, totally, are you guys pretty good students? But what that means is that I was really.. I am really good at sitting in a lecture hall just like this 但我这么说的意思是...就像现在,我真的在学术报告厅很坐得住 listening to someone share information, write it down, and then tell it back to someone later 聆听别人分享他们的信息,并记下来,随后又跟其他人分享 I'm still really good at it and if I were in your seat, I'd really having a good time I'm having a good time up here, too But, when I actually went to work with families, builds this the Primary school, build CZI I didn't have any of that skill set, No one ever prepared me for that 也从没有人教过我那样做 You know I asked my friends who got MBAs I was like: 后来我问过自己拿了MBA学位的朋友们 -"Did they teach you that?" So the core2 of it is our current systems even if we are wildly successful 所以核心问题是,即使我们现有的教育体制十分成功 don't actually prepare students to do what they need to do in the workplace 但它并没有教会学生们未来在工作岗位上需要的技能 And what are my hope is that 而我的希望是 we actually think about how we can actually change that, 我们能够想想,怎样才能改变这种局面 how we can actually educate our students in a way that prepares them for the real-life workplace 我们怎样才能教会我们的孩子,让他们在参加实际工作前早有准备 And where I've seen it most successfully in K-12 education 目前我见过在这方面最成功的例子是K-12教育机构 and where I get a lot of my inspiration3 from 我也从那里获得了很多灵感 It's actually a school visit that I did to a group called summit4 public schools I walked in to their small school network in the Bay Area and Washington I walked into the school and I didn't recognize where I was I saw middle school and high schoolers working in all different types of configurations5 我看到初中和高中学生在各种不同的机构中工作 There were groups of kids, problem-solving together 那些一群群的孩子,都在一起解决问题 and teaching6 each other about how to solve a problem that a teacher had posed7 to them 并且在互相教对方如何解决老师布置下来的问题 I saw teachers working one-on-one, comes having a mini conference and what a particular kid needed I saw a kid working by themselves on a project that I didn't even recognize as something that you could do in school He was building... he was working on a web media project And my questions like: what is this? where am I? Because this is what I see folks actually doing in the workplace Problem solving on their own, applying their what they're learning8 in a way that's meaningful in the real world And when they don't know how to do something, 当他们不知道怎么做某些事时 they know how to actually ask for help and get the right resources 他们清楚地知道如何请求协助,并获得有用的资源 and what I realized in that school visit is that 我从那一次访学中意识到的是 If this group had been able to really turn 如果这群人真的能够 flip9 what the classroom looks like historically to what would be preparing kids for success in the future 将课堂的历史面貌,转变成能为孩子未来的成功做准备的样子 And that's why we've been so proud to be supporting 这就是我们如此自豪地支持这项工作的原因 and sharing their work with even more schools to do what they're... 并且,我们愿意和更多学校一起完成他们正在... what someone has been doing. You've get a chance to visit a summit charter school, public school take it there fantastic You all CZI is made some investments in personalized learning what you're talking about I think we have a video clip that will help folks explain your approach So we'll take a look at that, and then we'll talk about it The average kid with the one-to-one tutor 一对一教学的普通孩子 compared to kids in a normal classroom 若与按普通方式教学的孩子相比 Average the 50 percentile kid will outperform 98 percent of the kids in the other class Okay, now I know it is not about the kids It's about can I actually create the kinds of learning experiences That let any kid get the kind of benefit that you get when you have a one-on-one tutor
