The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Tuesday said it would never yield to pressure by the United States as the latter spearheads a global campaign to isolate1 and stifle2 the country.
朝鲜周二表示,绝不会屈服于美国的压力之下,目前朝鲜正经历着美国带领下的一场全球孤立与制裁。
A DPRK Foreign
Ministry3 spokesman told the Korean Central News Agency that the United States was seeking to gain public support at home and abroad for a new policy called "maximum pressure and engagement."
"U.S. President
Trump4 personally invited the delegates of the member states of the UN Security Council to the White House to discuss the issue of the DPRK," said the spokesman.
"A closed-door briefing on the new policy toward the DPRK will be reportedly held in the White House for the senators in the presence of high-ranking officials including the State and
Defense5 secretaries," said the spokesman.
"This is just a
risky6 act little short of
lighting7 the fuse of a total war," the spokesman added.
Trump said Monday when meeting
envoys8 of 15 UN Security Council member countries at the White House that the "status quo" of the DPRK was "unacceptable" and the country was a "world problem which should be solved," calling for harsher sanctions against Pyongyang.
