At least one vehicle has been swallowed up by a landslide¹ in southwest China's Guizhou Province, local authorities confirmed Sunday.

中国西南部地区贵州省地方政府周日确认，省内发生泥石流灾害，至少一辆车被吞没。

The incident occurred at 3:39 p.m. in Erlang village, Xishui County, Zunyi, with debris² covering vehicles on a nearby expressway.

More than 30 soldiers and three fire-fighting teams have already discovered a van beneath the rubble³. The driver is seriously injured and efforts to extract him from the vehicle are still ongoing⁴.

A rescuer told Xinhua that more people may be trapped. He estimated that there had been at least four vehicles on the expressway.
