去饭店吃饭，难免会剩下一些菜和饭。虽然可以打包，但是人们一般也只是挑些贵的菜打包。为了治理这种浪费现象，香港的餐馆正在采取一些措施。

Eleven restaurants in a Hong Kong mall have responded to a call by green groups to start offering smaller-portion meals.

The restaurants in Olympican City take HK$1 ($0.12) off the bill if customers ask for less rice with their order.

According to the environment department of Hong Kong, leftovers¹ account for a third of the region's solid waste. An earlier survey by an environmental group found that Hongkong residents left one third of the rice when eating out.

报道中说，香港已经有11家餐馆响应了绿色组织的号召，开始供应小碗米饭。之前的一则调查显示，剩饭占该地区固体废弃物总数的三分之一。香港市民去餐馆吃饭的时候，三分之一的米饭被剩下。

这里的“leftovers”指的就是“剩饭”。“Leftover²”是一个统称，泛指一顿饭结束时剩下的东西。它还可以当形容词用，意为“剩下的”。如，Use any leftover meat to make a curry³.（要是有剩肉就做咖喱菜。）
