       您或许会奇怪， poll本身就可表示“投票”了，为什么偏要在前面添加一个straw（稻草）？

       有句谚语叫“A straw shows which way the wind blows（草动知风向）”。由于straw常用来暗示“风向”，所以在短语“straw poll”中，straw可引申为“广泛的民意”，相应的，straw poll指“大选前测验民意的非正式投票”。
