Beijing started to build the world's largest Ferris wheel, hoping to offer tourists a bird's-eye view of the city.

The Great Ferris, being built in Chaoyang Park of eastern Beijing, will stand 208 meters high to commemorate¹ the 2008 Olympic Games, to be held in the Chinese capital next August.

全球最高摩天轮日前在北京朝阳公园正式破土动工，以纪念明年8月在北京举行的奥运会。高达208米的摩天轮建成后将成为北京又一标志性的观景旅游建筑。

摩天轮即 “Ferris wheel”；标志性建筑（摩天轮）“the landmark² wheel”；（摩天轮的）轿厢“compartments”。
